What in the world is SEO?

As technology continues to advance, the Internet progresses to adapt to its users. Among these adaptations is Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO. This can be described as the process of driving traffic to your website from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing. SEO is a digital marketing strategy, tailored to a company’s products and services. SEO strategies can be customized to focus on specific product lines, company locations, and even strategically built to divert online traffic away from your competitors and to your company’s site instead. It highlights the content in a website, and communicates with the search engine through a very strategic algorithm to match a user’s search with the most optimized websites.

In simple terms please?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be described as a map for the internet. Let’s say you build a beautiful, five-star resort in Puerto Rico – 3 pools, a lazy river, casino, the whole nine yards. How do you get people to come vacation at your resort? A combination of Facebook marketing, word-of-mouth, online advertisements, email blasts, and most importantly a beautiful website – all different ways of telling your visitors not only why they should visit your resort but also how to get there and make reservations. SEO takes all of these factors into consideration, in addition to website content, genuine customer reviews, etc to boost your ratings on the search results pages.

Why Does Your Website Need SEO?

Search Optimization is a crucial factor in how people find websites, and ultimately make purchasing decisions. It could be the difference between a potential customer choosing your business and choosing a competitor. Primary search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo show their search results across a number of pages, with the best ranking SEO sites populating the first few pages. The more search engine optimization a site has, the better their chances are of being on the first few pages. No one wants to conduct a research project when looking for services or products; most people don’t look further than the first two pages. They want to find the best fast, and that is why an excellent website, in combination with SEO, will make all the difference when it comes to finding business.
